Small Engine Mechanic

The Small Engine Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines, including lawn equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other gas- or electric-powered tools. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and delivering exceptional customer service. Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential for this role to communicate effectively with our diverse customer base and team members.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair small engines, including gas and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and blade sharpening.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and services performed.
  • Communicate with customers in both Spanish and English to explain diagnoses, repairs, and maintenance needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service, offering advice on proper equipment use and care.
  • Keep the workshop clean and organized, adhering to safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or similar role.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written).
  • Strong knowledge of small engine systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license (if fieldwork or pickups are required).
