FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Strawberry Crest High School Leads Hillsborough County with 16 National Merit Semi-Finalists

DOVER, Fla. – Strawberry Crest High School proudly announces that 16 students have been named National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists, the highest number of semi-finalists from any high school in Hillsborough County this year. This remarkable achievement underscores Strawberry Crest's continued tradition of academic excellence and its commitment to preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond.

National Merit Semi-Finalists represent some of the highest-achieving students in the nation. Earning semi-finalist status requires exceptional performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), consistently strong academic record, leadership involvement, and endorsement by the student's school.

"This extraordinary accomplishment reflects the dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence of our students, as well as the unwavering support provided by our teachers, counselors, families, and community," said Mark Watson, Principal of Strawberry Crest High School. "Having 16 National Merit Semi-Finalists, the most of any school in Hillsborough County, is a testament to the culture of excellence that exists at Strawberry Crest. We are incredibly proud of these students and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the future."

The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes academically talented students across the United States and provides opportunities for scholarship awards sponsored by colleges, universities, corporations, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The recognition of 16 National Merit Semi-Finalists highlights Strawberry Crest's strong academic programs, rigorous coursework opportunities, and culture that encourages students to pursue excellence at the highest levels.

As finalists, these students will now compete for National Merit Scholarships that will be announced later this spring. Regardless of the scholarship outcomes, being named a National Merit Finalist is considered one of the most prestigious academic honors available to high school students.

"This achievement reflects not only the talents of these exceptional students but also the collaborative efforts of our educators and families who support their academic journey every day," Watson added. "We celebrate their success and the example they set for future Chargers."

Strawberry Crest High School extends its congratulations to all 16 semi-finalists and their families for this outstanding accomplishment.
