Description
The Pillowcase Project is an emergency preparedness education class that empowers students in 3rd-5th grade to take ownership of their own emergency safety. The project emerged during Hurricane Katrina, when many people evacuated the dangerous floods carried important items to shelters in their pillowcases. Presented by trained educators from the American Red Cross, the project reinforces personal preparedness by engaging students in a discussion about emergencies, teaching coping skills, and practicing preparedness at school and at home.
Each Student will receive a Preparedness Workbook and a pillowcase to decorate and fill. Parent/guardian must remain at the Center while the class is taking place.
